The classic outfit formula for laid-back style.
Stripes + denim = a classic outfit formula that never goes out of style. This outfit features some items I think everyone should have in their wardrobe, because they are so versatile: a black and white striped top, black skinny jeans with ripped knees, and a slightly oversized-fitting jean jacket. You will get so much use out of all three! Above, see some great options, including the ones I’m wearing myself.
I love this look for a casual day of running errands or just hanging out. While my top isn’t the most figure-flattering, it has all the vibes of a slouchy Brandy Melville top (sadly, I don’t live near any BM locations) with extra long sleeves and is made of a super comfy material– making it a Forever 21 score. Pairing it with ripped black skinny jeans was a no-brainer, and wearing a distressed denim jacket over top helped to break up all the black and white.
Speaking of B&W, I highly recommend these black perforated slip-on Vans. I have had them for a few years now and they have held up so well. I originally bought them to have a secondary option to rain boots on semi-rainy days because I HATE getting mud stains on my shoes, and these are super easy to clean (plus they’re black, duh). They also have a more polished, sleek appearance than some of their more casual Vans counterparts, making them more acceptable to wear in certain office/work settings as an added bonus.
I accessorized with my round 54mm Ray-Ban sunnies which add to the classic vibe of this look, along with a curved horn necklace. These have been very “in” lately– I especially love how they look with bikinis on the beach.
I am OCD when it comes to matching the metals (gold, silver, or rose gold) of my jewelry, sunglasses, and bags. It might sound crazy, but it drives me nuts to be wearing a gold necklace and carrying a bag with silver hardware. I just can’t do it! Because of this, I opted to carry my Marc by Marc Jacobs satchel bag with gold hardware to match my necklace and sunglasses. This bag is the perfect size for everyday use and has three different straps so you can carry it a bunch of ways, making it one of my favorite purchases to date (sadly, it’s no longer sold in store, though).
All in all, this outfit is easy to throw on but still looks put-together, making it a win-win in my book.
