A comfortable, breezy outfit for a summertime evening.
I’m so happy to finally be back with an #OOTD post, especially this breezy look! While I’m still not at my full physical capabilities to be able to shoot many outfit posts yet, I was able to snap a few photos before a recent evening out. [It was about to start pouring rain, so excuse any frizzy tresses!] This material of both my top and pants were super lightweight, making this outfit perfect for a summer night.
I always used to find gauchos and culottes unattractive, but this season I’ve had a change of heart. When designed with a high waist, cropped, wide-leg pants look so chic! And as a bonus, they are so comfortable; more so than jeans or regular trousers thanks to their loose fit. My white pants from The Impeccable Pig are made of tencel, which is lightweight and did not shrink in the wash– something I always fear for. They have a high-rise elastic waist, making them that much comfier and ideal for me currently since I’m not at my desired weight (see my Life Update post for why). On that note, I highly recommend these pants for when going to a nice brunch/lunch/dinner out, since they won’t dig into your stomach/food baby. 😉
Basically, they feel like sweatpants but look polished– a win-win. The only bummer is that they get wrinkly and are a bit see-through from the back, so it’s key to wear barely-there undies or a longer top which covers your backside.
If you aren’t going the long top route, then opt for a crop top. I love this black and white striped kimono sleeve tie-front crop top from 12th Tribe– so much so, that I broke my usual no-rayon policy for it. I ordered a size Medium to account for any shrinkage, which was definitely the right move since it did shrink a bit in the washing machine. For must-have pieces made from rayon, size up!
If the occasion doesn’t call for going bra-less, this top also works with a black or white bralette underneath.
I wanted to give my outfit a pop of color in the form of my red Sole Society flat lace-up sandals, which paired well with the cropped length of my pants. Though I am the biggest fan of nude-colored sandals in the summer, I advise everyone to invest in at least one pair in a bold color for those outfits which could use a fun pop. I carried a black suede clutch bag with a tassel zipper, wore gold hoop earrings, a dainty gold evil eye bracelet from Greece, and my Luv AJ x Sabo Luxe gold layered necklace for the finishing touches.
