IMO, off-the-shoulder isn’t something that ever really goes out of style, but it has its seasons of being especially “in,” and this is one of those seasons. That’s all the more reason to stock up on this style, since it’s not a temporary fad! Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are a fun way to show a bit of skin without being too revealing, so be sure to work on your shoulder tan this summer for extra effect.

You know I had to include a gingham option (complete with an adorable tie detail) in my picks, and this feminine, button-front dress is so perfect for summer I don’t even have words for it. Everyone needs a blue and white striped OTS top in their wardrobe, and Forever 21 has a ton of cute options. Finally, I love the gauzy, lightweight fabric of the cream romper from Urban Outfitters– it would look amazing with one of the straw bags in Part 1 of this trend guide. 😉

Never in a million years (well, not since middle school/high school) did I think there would be a day that I’d be saying denim skirts are acceptable to wear, let alone be back in style. But here we are! The last time I wore jean skirts was probably between the ages of 13-16, and they were of the low-rise, super-short variety from Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister Co. Can anyone else relate? Those days are long gone though, and the jean skirt has now gotten a modern makeover, with a higher waist line and an A-line shape. The new design makes the skirts perfect for pairing with blouses (including off-the-shoulder ones!), crop tops, and bodysuits.

The key to doing this trend right way is ensuring you choose a skirt with that A-line shape, or alternately, a wrap shape in a chambray fabric, like the second skirt above. Anything else runs the risk of looking tacky or outdated. I also recommend staying away from stretchy denim skirts; the more rigid the denim, the more authentic and chic the look is. The same goes for light wash denim, which often has a “cheap” look to it; opt for medium washes or dark washes instead. I picked up this skirt from Topshop, and I can’t believe how versatile it’s ended up being– I have so many #ootd’s incorporating this skirt to share with you all soon!

Topshop, Steve Madden, Soludos mules, Soludos lace-ups

Sandals are everyone’s go-to shoe for summertime, but I love to switch things up with a pair of espadrilles! They are the ultimate summer shoe with their woven rope soles, and this season they are having a real moment. Whether you want a more casual shoe like flats or mules, or you want to dress things up with some wedges or flatforms, there is an espadrille out there for you.

It was difficult to narrow down my picks for this category, but the above espadrilles do a great job of covering so many outfits and occasions. The first pair would look cute with some white jeans and a blouse; the second pair would be adorable with a summery dress; the third pair would be fantastic to slip into along with some breezy, wide-leg pants; the fourth pair would be ideal for vacation with jean shorts and a tunic. I’ll take them all, please.

Clayton, Kimchi Blue, American EagleTru Blu

Flared or bell sleeves have such a fun boho vibe that’s perfect for the summer– I especially like these sleeves on crop tops, which help to balance out the larger sleeves with less fabric around your midriff. It’s all about proportions! Plus, their retro feel will give your outfit a unique vibe.

I am OBSESSED with the white and blue striped top above; not only does it have flared sleeves, but it has a tie-front to make it that much more on-trend. Wear it with some distressed high-rise denim and slay everyone else’s life. Next up, this spicy OTS top from Urban Outfitters is giving me major 💃 vibes and red is so eye-catching. You can’t go wrong with an all-white bell-sleeved crop top, which is versatile and can be amped up with some layered necklaces. Lastly, the kimono-style tie-front crop top is very boho luxe– which is what Planet Blue is known for curating, and why their brands are some of my all-time favorites.

Which trends are your favorite this season? Would love to hear from you in the comment section. XO
